About me:
For the past three years I have worked as a librarian in a small elementary school in rural Connecticut. I am solely responsible for the entire school library, which includes teaching the library curriculum, maintaining the state of the library, and managing the library’s budget. During my time in the library, I have implemented reading incentive programs and encouraged students to discover a true love of literacy and technology.
I graduated in May 2010 with my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Hartford, with a double major in Elementary Education and Behavioral Studies. I obtained my K-6 teaching certificate in 2010. Since then, I have been working towards two separate Master’s degrees. From 2010 to 2012 I worked on a Master’s in Elementary Education with a specialization in literacy from Central Connecticut State University. In 2012 I decided to pursue my Master of Library Science with a cross endorsement in Library Media from Southern Connecticut State University. I am seeking to further my career as a librarian in order to positively influence the educational environment of children.
In the library over the past three years I have gained valuable knowledge towards my career path as a Library Media Specialist/librarian. In addition to my regular responsibilities I have worked closely with the Library Media Specialist here in Region 12 to assist in rewriting the library curriculum for the district.
On the side, I coach swimming and track & field at our local high school. Being involved in the community has been extremely rewarding.
